Belonging Measure
Measuring safety, recognition, value and agency in your setting.
This is a quick whole-school reflection tool for headteachers and senior leadership teams. It is designed to provide an indicative picture of how belonging may currently be experienced by your learners.
The measure is not intended to provide a complete or definitive assessment of belonging across your setting but should help you begin thinking about how we understand belonging and begin the process of measuring its accessibility, equity and impact.
It offers a structured starting point for considering what belonging means, how it might be measured, where your setting may be now, and what you may be able to build on as you continue developing belonging across the school.
The four domains
Learners experience adults, routines and responses as reliably safe.
Learners are seen, heard and understood in context.
Learners are treated with dignity and held within the community.
Learners shape language, decisions and the support around them.
